Nancy Pelosi elected as nations first woman speaker

WASHINGTON (AP) - The House has elected Nancy Pelosi as the nation's first woman speaker.

Pelosi was met by prolonged cheers from fellow House members and the packed visitors' galleries today.

Onlookers included actor Richard Gere and singer Tony Bennett, who sang "I Left My Heart in San Francisco."

The 66-year-old Democrat beamed and clapped as she heard the voice vote electing her.

Pelosi has represented San Francisco in Congress since 1987.

This "person" does not represent America or even represent the way alot of Democrats feel, she is way too far to the left. Be careful what you wish for people, you just may get it.

I can't stand her or the media hype about her.
