from Kim Komando's Cool Site of the Day
In 2003, after fighting the disease for half his life, Killian Owen lost his battle with leukemia. He was only 9. His story is heartbreaking.
Killian's parents are determined to help other families avoid the loss they experienced. So they set up Coaches Curing Kids' Cancer, an organization that raises money for cancer research.
The way it works is simple. Teams often give coaches a gift at the end of the season. Coaches Curing Kids' Cancer asks that teams donate instead. It distributes the donation to a local children's hospital or cancer research center.
If your children are on a sports team, keep Coaches Curing Kids' Cancer in mind. But, of course, anyone can make a donation.
