Happy AIDS Day!
Today is World AIDS Day, a time for the people of Earth to open their hearts and their bankbooks for Kofi Annan, and beg his forgiveness for any other problems he can blame on the selfishness of Western Civilization. But don’t expect an apology from Bush for the billions who died while he handed out huge tax breaks to the wealthiest one percent of Americans.
AIDS, or "Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome" is the depletion of the human immune system by the HIV virus. When the Reagan Administration unleashed the virus in the early 1980’s, homosexuals, prostitutes, and intravenous drug users were the hardest hit. Half the Democrat Party voter base was wiped out literally overnight. In the years that followed, the disease quickly spread to developing nations unprepared to handle such an epidemic. Due largely in part to Republican greed and inaction, impoverished third world countries are poorly equipped educate their people about the serious dangers that accompany the wonderful pleasures of casual, unprotected sex. In Sudan, for instance, thousands die every day for want of inexpensive prophylactics. In Rwanda, AIDS is the second leading cause of death next to being burned alive and hacked into itty-bitty pieces by gangs of machete-wielding maniacs.
Yet Bush does nothing.
On Dumbya’s watch, AIDS has grown into such a horrible epidemic that Hollywood actors have chosen it over gonorrhea and syphilis as their sexually transmitted cause du jour. That bright red ribbon pinned to Gwyneth Paltrow’s fabulous Bob Mackie evening gown is a wake-up call for Bush and his Halliburton Buddies to stop sitting on their hands while billions more perish needlessly.
BlameBush!
